Fattoush Middle Eastern Cuisine
Modernising Traditional Fare:
Fattoush Middle Eastern Cuisine
Fattoush is a Middle Eastern restaurant in San Francisco's Noe Valley. They had fallen into the trap of many Lebanese, Persian and Arabic food staples in the United States — trying to be "authentically Middle Eastern."
For this project, we updated the look to be one that exuded a contemporary flair to match the fresh take the head chef took on his dishes. We created a mark that combined the Arabic calligraphy for "Fattoush," the signature dish, with the icon of a fig, which is historically considered to be the true mana from heaven.
This identity filled out further by using patterns found in architecture from the chef's hometown of Sana'a. It included relish jars, lassi bottles, menus and a full take-away picnic kit that you could bring to nearby Dolores Park for a sit in the grass.
